"It is so comforting to me to have a facility like Miami Jewish Health Systems in which to place my mom, especially since I am so far away. I live in New York and mom doesn’t want to relocate up north, so I have been going through such angst and guilt until I actually visited the facility here and I saw how my mother is thriving here." ~ Son of a resident
Recently, respected health journalist Jane Brody of The New York Times paid a visit to Miami Jewish Health Systems. In her article of October 6, 2009, she wrote:
"I have often said in no uncertain terms that I never want to be placed in a nursing home. I was delighted to discover an example of a home where one could not only benefit medically and emotionally but also enjoy one’s last days. This is an all-purpose, nonprofit facility that evolved through visionary leadership and generous donations from community members to become one of the top-ranked centers in the nation. Many of its features, especially the caring and respect devoted to each resident by well-trained personnel, could serve as a model for nursing homes throughout the country."
